Gaza Children Dying in Israel’s ‘Starvation Campaign’

Famine Spreads Across the Gaza Strip

A bunch of UN experts lacking any influence accused Israel of practicing a “planned starvation campaign” towards the Palestinians in Gaza. They argue that dozens of children have died from starvation and malnutrition as a result of this planned campaign.

Since October 7, 2023, the experts have reported about 34 Palestinians affected by malnutrition; most of them are kids who have died. They use three children’s deaths specifically to show that there is a famine that has broken out in all parts of Gaza.

Tragic Deaths of Gaza’s Children

The experts mention the deaths of Fayez Ataya, a 6-month-old baby who died on May 30th, 2024, and 13-year-old Abdulqader Al-Serhi, who died on June 1st, 2024, at the Al-Aqsa Hospital. They also note the death of 9-year-old Ahmad Abu Reida, who died in June in a tent sheltering his displaced family. All three children died from malnutrition and a lack of access to adequate healthcare.

The experts emphasized, “There is no doubt that famine has spread to central and southern Gaza if these children die of hunger, yet they have been under medical care in the center of Gaza.”

Israel’s ‘Genocidal Starvation Campaign’

The UN experts say, “Israel is starving the Palestinian people on purpose to kill them all, and there is no food in Gaza at all.” They believe this shows that delivering humanitarian aid, ending the blockade of Israel, and declaring peace are the most urgent priorities of the global community.

The experts cited the earlier deaths of a two-month-old baby and a ten-year-old, Yazan Al Kafarneh, as an indication that famine had already started in parts of Northern Gaza. They claim that “if the international community acted in time on human anti-starvation grounds, Israel would not have had success with its genocide and hunger policy, which led to these mortalities and should be stopped at its initial phase.”

Gaza and Rafah: The Struggle Against Oppression

Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

Since October 2023’s war, triggered by the Hamas attack, Gaza has been in the middle of a deep humanitarian crisis. A military offensive conducted by Israel has left thousands of civilians dead, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

Of a lurking famine in Gaza, especially in its north The United Nations has been warning for months, but it has not been officially declared one. The blockade and siege must end, say UN experts, to alleviate the crisis, even though Israel insists that they have increased humanitarian aid delivery.

Pray for Gaza: May peace, strength, and hope prevail amidst the suffering.
